Through the efforts of the Late Model Tour sponsor, Matt Rolfe Designs, the Sim Auto Racing Association and Can-Am Racing Series are proud to present the SARA vs CARS Late Model All-Star Invitational Race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The All-Star Invitational will pit the best drivers in SARA’s Matt Rolfe Designs Outlaw Late Model Series against the stars of Can-Am’s MRolfe Designs Late Model Tour, and feature what we believe is the biggest one-day hosted race pay-out in iRacing.

The winner of the All-Star Invitational will receive a trophy, and two tickets to both days of the July New Hampshire Motor Speedway NASCAR race weekend (Global Rallycross, Whelen Modified Tour Town Faire Tire 150, Nationwide Tour New England 200, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series New Hampshire 300). The highest finishing driver from both series will also receive a free oval car paint scheme from Matt Rolfe Designs. Ticket value at approximately $250, overall value of the night’s race is approximately $300.

This will also be broadcast live via the fine folks at ETV.

“Matt approached me with the idea early this winter, and while it has taken a while for Paul, Matt,  Patrick (Hahe) and myself to come together on the agreement, it came together quite beautifully,” stated CARS co-founder Greg Netherwood. “We truly believe our late model tour has some of the best short track drivers iRacing has to offer, and while this race falls outside of our norm of fixed setups, that won’t stop us from dominating.”

The Showdown Race will be 25 laps, no cautions, no quick repairs.
Entry to the Showdown race is limited to drivers with 9 starts during season #4, or 4 starts during the current season.

Showdown Race Schedule
May 19th, 2013
8pm servers open

5 minute x 2 lap qualifying
Race begins at 8:35

Qualifying
The top 20 grid spots are open to the “in on points” qualifiers.
Winners of the Showdown Races and the Promoters’ Provisionals will start in rows 11-12.
Fastest qualifying run will win pole & lane choice.
The other 11 cars from the fastest qualifier’s series will start in that lane. (If a CARS driver has fastest q-time and chooses inside lane, all CARS drivers will get inside lane, regardless of their qualifying time, and will line-up in qualifying time order).

Race Format
The race will be 75 total laps, with two segments.
The first segment is a 25 lap sprint.
After the first segment a competition yellow will be thrown.
There will be an invert (number of cars to be inverted will be determined later) prior to the start of the second segment, and drivers will not have prior knowledge of the number of cars being inverted.
The final segment will be a 50 lap race.

The race room will be set to yellows on and 1 fast repair.

Paint Schemes
Matt has designed series-specific spoiler/side skirts for each series. CARS drivers will have black spoilers & side skirts with “Can-Am Racing Series” branding. That paint layer will be available here, on the Facebook page and from Matt or the administration soon. If you do not have a custom paint, please contact Matt, he is still offering discounted paint jobs to CARS MRolfeDesigns Late Model Tour drivers.

Drivers who paint their own cars should NOT change the color of the spoiler/skirts, but can change the color of the wordmark to match their paint scheme. (If you’re a CARS driver, keep the spoiler/skirts black).

SARA will be running white spoiler/skirts.

Set-ups
This is an OPEN Set-up race.
A baseline set will be provided to drivers from both organizations. That set will be developed by a top-split driver and will be a competitive set.

There will be at least 1 inter-series test session to work on and with the set-up with the set builder in the race room.

The set-up session will be scheduled soon to provide drivers ample tune & tweak time.

Trading Paints Pro Cup All Star Event!

After a few months of shooting around formats and ideas, we are pleased to announce that Tuesday, February 12th, the Trading Paints Pro Cup Series will be holding an “All Star Race” event, for all members of CARS and RSR to participate in. The event will be a totally different format than we are used to, but since its a night for fun and hard racing, we figured it might be a good time to throw something different at it.

This will be run at Irwindale (Outter) Speedway, utilizing the K&N Impala that the TPPC typically runs. It will kick off at the usual time. 8:00pm Practice, 9:30pm Q, with a 9:40pm first segment.

Many thanks to Chris Cable, as this was his idea and he’s been the driving force behind getting this set up.

Format for the All-Star Race:
- 3 Segments (1st segment 30 laps, 2nd Segment 75 laps, 3rd Segment 20 laps)

- Fuel will be preset to force one pit stop during the 2nd Segment. Fuel will be set the same throughout the event but only the 2nd Segment will require the pit stop.

- As always this IS a fixed setup race (sorry Sean! lol)

1ST SEGMENT

- After Practice and Qualifying the field will be set based on Qualifying times. There will NOT be an invert for the first Seg.

- During the 30 lap Segment Cautions will be on (for the 1st and 2nd Segments) and no mandatory pit stop needed. You may pit if you choose to though, there will be no penalty for that.

- The finishing order of the 1st Segment will be the starting order of the 2nd (and same with 2nd to 3rd Segment)

2ND SEGMENT

- The finishing order will determine the starting order with ONE exception. The last number of the leaders last lap time (ex. 17.123 <—-) will determine how many cars are inverted. So given the example above, the top 3 in the finishing order of the 1st Segment will be given the EOL with the last car being the leader of the last Segment.

- One Mandatory pit stop will be made during the 2nd Segment (whether its under caution or under green (hopefully the latter))

- Same as the end of the 1st Segment. The finishing order of the 2nd Segment will be the starting order of the 3rd.

3RD SEGMENT

- Again, the finishing order will determine the starting order with the inverting in effect. The last number of the leaders last lap time will determine how many cars are inverted. Whoever the invert may concern will be given the EOL with the last car being the leader of the last Segment.

- No mandatory pit stop for the final Segment. This final Segment is all about a dash for the finish.

- NO CAUTIONS! As previously stated, this is a dash for the finish. If you do wreck, use common sense and pull off to the side without disrupting the race if possible or just immediately exit out of your car.

- And last but not least, remember to pull your belts tight one more time and race your ass off for the win! This is a bragging rights race so dont hold back if you have something.
